Well, having assembled a collection of judges worthy of attending Cannes, it’s time to announce the winners of our Lavazza Italian Film Festival competition.

Interestingly, despite living in such a political city we managed to avoid completely jokes about Silvio Berlusconi.  Rather, almost everyone focussed on la dolce vita – celebrating the romance, food, wine and scenery of that little country shaped like a boot.

So, here are our winners. We have two from the Twitterverse, and two that entered a comment on the contest page.

Twitter Winners:

‏@laurdex charmed us with this simple dedication:

What’s there not to love about Italy? The food – meraviglioso! The fashion – classico! The people – bellissimi!

@MarigoulaMarigo Got us misty eyed about black and white cinema:

Italy is Marchello Mastroiani on a Vespa and Anita Ekberg in the Trevi fountain. La Dolce Vita

Blogpost Winners

Creative Ventures Unlimited made chocolate a metaphor for life:

A country that makes chocolates called kisses, baci, that include enticing love messages, what more could describe the beauty, poetry and ingenuity that I love about Italy.

Meanwhile, Sararara (@Selkey) composed some gorgeous Italian free verse:

A place of love, my beautiful mama her
Mountain town by the sea
Old buildings rich in history, charming culture
Romance, lovers

Our winners have been contacted, but we wish to thank everyone who took part in this little indulgence.  If you happened to miss out, make sure you get along to check out some of the wonderfully funny and passionate offerings at the Lavazza Italian Film Festival until February 12.

Many thanks to Palace Electric Cinema.
