The Weekend Cometh – The Hyatt Hotel

There are two things that are better al fresco: drinking champagne and eating oysters. Okay, there may be three things, but really, it’s your business what occurs following heavy indulgence in the first two. The Hyatt Hotel, one of Canberra’s most recognisable and gorgeous buildings is offering both experiences – all with the convenience of a five-star bedroom should you find yourself getting in the mood for the third. What are we talking about? It’s summer in the garden, you sillies!
The Hyatt has space, and lots of it. Why not enjoy the art-deco setting in pristine gardens with staff clad in uniforms that would attract ridicule any more than twenty metres from the hotel’s perimeter? A couple of weeks ago the traditional Friday afternoon soiree kicked off with the the Moet Bar offering $15 glasses of exquisite French bubbly from 5pm accompanied by a DJ spinning tunes to encourage your merriment.
Should you perhaps indulge a little heavily and be in need for recuperative products, what better way than to sit in the sun, inhale some meat from a barbeque and, when the moment arrives and you’re ready to step back up to the grown-ups’ table, tuck into some freshly shucked oysters. Between 11.00 and 3.00 on Saturdays The Hyatt offers this service along with salads, desserts and all other required accoutrements that contribute to a fine brunch – they’ve even got an egg station. THAT’S AN EGG STATION, PEOPLE!
