Wanted: Coffee Writer

by The Editor

Update:  Thanks to all those who enquired, but in the end there could be only one – Barrister Barista!  Stay tuned….

For coffee drinkers, few moments of the day are treasured more than that first sip of coffee.  For the truly dedicated, the sights, smells and sounds of a coffee shop signify a votive experience.  While there are plenty locals who identify as the former, The Canberran is looking for someone who is proud to be the latter.

So, if you’re the sort of coffee drinker who would walk four blocks in the rain with a broken heel just to get a proper brew, we want to hear from you.  The requirements are:

  1. to provide a review every fortnight
  2. to sample an espresso/short black as well as a milk variation (latte/flat white/cappuccino)
  3. provide a photograph of the venue, the coffee and preferably the barista.
  4. 300-500 words on the atmosphere, crowd, decor, coffee quality and price.

What does it pay?
Nothing. We don’t sell any advertising – we just do this for love (for now).

Will I be famous?
No, we’ll create your own non-de-plume similar to other contributors.  However you’ll have influence over Canberra’s coffee culture (which is much, much more fun).

Is a camera supplied?
No, this street party is strictly BYO (although we prefer something better than an iPhone).

Interested?  Email editor@thecanberran.com telling us in 100 words why you’d suit the job.  So, grab yourself a coffee, check out this tasting wheel and get writing.
