Australia Celebrates Live – Parliament House Concert

by The Editor

Well, not a moment too soon, the majoriy of acts have been announced for the biggest party in town every Australia Day Eve. From the Australia Day website:

Stay in Canberra this Australia Day and head down to the lawns of Parliament House on Wednesday the 25th of January and experience Australia Celebrates Live concert, a tribute to everything Australian. The free event, which has been held for the last 9 years, is the place to be in Canberra for those wanting to kick off their Australia Day celebrations with a fun and dance filled night.

The event kicks off at 6:00pm with the Australian Of The Year Awards, then at 8:00 the Australia Celebrates Live Concert begins. This year’s lineup is sure to impress the crowds, with dance floor favourites Sneaky Sound System the first act of an exciting line up to be announced in the coming weeks.

INXS will headline the Australia Celebrates Live concert and will be joined by
Katie Noonan and The Captains, Sneaky Sound System, Spiderbait, and The Potbelleez.

New to the event in 2012 is the introduction of the ‘Family Area’ on the grass slope of Parliament House. The ‘Family Area’ is a glass and alcohol-free zone where families can enjoy a great view of the concert and the big screen in a more relaxed environment.

So get a group of colleagues, family or friends together, pack your picnic rug, cover yourself in Aussie colours and be sure to get there early, because this year’s Australia Celebrates Live is guaranteed to be huge.

Looks good, huh? Too be honest we will probably be elsewhere testing the merits of Aussie gins and olives, but can certainly recommend those young and old head up to what looks to be a great free party (well, apart from INXS perhaps).

More info can be found at the event’s Facebook page.
