Happy Birthday to Us!

Well, here we are… One year old today. Who would have thought?
It started on a cold August night on a comfy couch shielded from the Canberra night air. We took a shot of vermouth, mixed it with an espresso, some foie gras and an hour on asos.com and came up with this. TheCanberran.com
It’s been a hell of a ride. We’ve made mistakes and earned some praise, almost lost friends and made many more. But here we are, and on unsteady legs that grow stronger with each passing month we become more confident and sure-footed.
A big thank you to those who have offered support and forgiveness. It’s been a tough but enjoyable ride so far.
To all the contributors – The Canberran is nothing without your energy and commitment.
To the readers – you grow in number every week inspiring us not only to do more, but to do it better.
To the commenters – we love and hate your love and hate, but most importantly you are the Canberra conversation we are looking to create.
Finally, to the venue owners, managers and event managers who work tirelessly and provide us with so much to cover, your contributions to the fabric of Canberra should not be underestimated.
We’re proud of our efforts to date but there is still a long way to go. Please give us some feedback below. What did you love or hate about The Canberran this year. More importantly, what can we do for you in the next?

I love that you keep track of what’s new around town in terms of eateries, bars and events.
I hate the pretentious tone – I know the “snob” thing is supposedly your gimmick but it’s actually really grating and it puts people off. Also the writing can be clunky- especially those coffee reviews- yikes.

But thank you for your comment. We try to keep our tongues firmly in cheek but don’t always hit the target.
